Special souls

Dear God you gifted us one special one
His smile was like the sunrise
Always warming hearts
His courage like a lion
Always on a hunt

I had a gift
One in the face of a brother
Gentle. Kind. Warm. Caring
Never once did he fail
Always having my back even when our tongues spewed poison to each other
He was my fall back guy
My partner in crime

I wanted to ask God why
Then I remember you
You would be thankful in every storm
You would smile through the pain
You would embrace us
Remind us to be strong
When all along we should've been your warriors

Dear brother
My heart is in pain
I can't accept this bye
It hurts too deep
Within my heart beats pain and anger
I can't accept it
Yet I silently have to hold on
Hold on long enough to give you a befitting farewell

Dear brother
I don't want to say goodbye
So I'll believe in those eternal promises
Let's meet again in the world beyond
Let's be family again
But until then
You live in my heart
Always and forever
