My Camouflage Angels Poem by Nici Rosencrans

My Camouflage Angels

Why do we see angels with wings?
So high above us, where Heaven's bell rings?
Why do we see angels above?
Can they not live among us and spread their love?

Angels, as it is said, are here to protect,
To save us from pain, suffering and neglect.
My angels are here, on earth, across the sea,
Fighting for my country, for you and for me

Some will go to that cloud above our heads,
Some will be in our dreams, when we lay down to bed.
Some will return home, to family and friends,
But the battle they fought really never ends.

I have a camouflage angel, I call his name brother,
Not because we shared a house, a dad or a mother.
But truly because, he stands tall in the face of fear,
Truly because, in my heart he is near.

I will be safe tonight, and hope my angels will too,
But I will still bow my head to pray for a few...

'God, please watch over my camouflage angels as they fall asleep tonight..
And through their sorrows, please help them fight...
For without angels, we are lost and dazed,
Please help my angels come home, and in their deepest souls..
Changed.'

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
I have friends who have been joining the military and it has really stuck to me recently what it means to be an American soldier. We owe these people our upmost respect. So many have died in the name of our country, and I suppose this is really in the name of all that have died and have people that they look over. We all need a guardien angel, whether they are alive or not, whether they are in our homes or across the world, it doesn't mean you have to love them any less.
