My Child Poem by Udisha Nundlal

My Child

Bonded by a sacred thread
Nine months ago
A fragile web of hopes and dreams unsaid
Spun around a precious cargo

A sincere prayer whispered
A shower of blessings bestowed
The gentle ebb and flow of emotions ripple
The swell of the heart triples

Perfect features carved
Twinkling eyes blink in the rays of light
An urgent cooing calmed
Blissful pride unites

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
Recently we celebrated my son's crown birthday and all the emotions of being pregnant, giving birth and seeing my baby for the first time came flooding back. No doubt, the day my son was born was the happiest, most unforgettable day of my life. The joy a mother feels when she sees her baby for the first time is indescribable.
