My City Life Poem by Gil Valiente

My City Life

Rating: 5.0

Wether or not I was to wake
At 9am I would never fail
The jackhemmers at work
would begin their wail

No matter how hard I tried
It wasn't easy to block It out
It was futile to put your head out the window
and let out a shout

I would go downstairs
to my favorite little deli
And for only 1 Dollar
I got my buttered roll & a coffee

I walked to the train
which was a block away
I gazed at all the others
who were begining their day

All my 11 years of riding the train
I wouldn't be bothered If I couldn't sit down
It gave me the opportunity
To see all those around

Stoeic faces as we commute
off to the daily gring
Passing hundreds of souls
as If we didn't mind

I'd go to work
just trying to keep pace
with the profound reality
affectionately known as the rat race

After work some would go to the gym
while some others hit the bar
most just simply went home
cause they lived so far

Wth the yearly increases I rent
This much I have to say
I won't let this town kick me out
I'll just work harder everyday

I arrive at home & unlock my locks
and there stands my pretty wife
I realize what it all means
An average day I my city life
