My Corner Poem by Mustafa Ghuneim

My Corner

My shadow led me to the dark,
When the shadow became all what I got,
Lying alone in an empty corner of mine,
Thinking for another time,
With this thing I left for a while,
That I call my mind,

My empty corner became my friend,
Talk to it sometimes, as I used to pretend,
Running away from life, but the opposite of life is death,
The way I always used to face my crisis,
With a closed eye, and no breath,

I feel all time that my shadow is here,
In night or day time my lousy pearl,
The sun above me or a bulb in the street,
Some light from a window, with loud heart beats,
Make me feel my shadow accompanying,
The strange road of mine,

Why do I open my eyes and see no one there? !
Love comes and dies, the moment it comes to me,
I had my shadow watching, the tears, the wreck of me,
Calling for a truth, In the empty corner of mine.

Why do I open my eyes and start a new life? !
I would then love to shot my head,
To cut my vein with the kitchen knife,
So every time I am in light,
My shadow drags me to it,
Leaving me in the dark empty corner of mine.
