My First Poem: But Why? Poem by John smithy smithy smithy Smithy smithy

My First Poem: But Why?

Cold water, sweaty muddy running shoes, weights on the gym floor, and exam papers on the table. 'Suffering is just a test for the best, I must suffer' he mutters under his breath, all odds against him. But why? Why does he persist?

Hot water, clean running shoes, crisp packets on the floor, game controllers on the table, empty papers yet to be written. 'Why do today what you can put off until tomorrow? ' He says, while munching on crisps, all odds for him. But why? Why does he delay?
