My Friend Poem by Alec MacLellan

My Friend

He tries to hold back the feeling of defeat,
But he knows that he can only make it if he's discreet,
He tries to cling to his reputation,
But it just causes frustrations,
Move on with your life I've said before,
He listens but behind closed doors,
He doesn't want to,
This is what kept him together over the years its his glue,
I say your friends will help you,
But he goes to the wrong few,
I smash myself down so he might feel better,
But now I feel I sealed the black letter,
I lied about one thing,
I just wanted him to tell the truth even if it stings,
But he lied to my face,
He is the only friend I have kept that I have ever let deface,
In the end I don't know why,
But I feel that I could help him reach the sky,
So I guess I'll stand behind him,
Even if it makes me grim,
But my trust grows weary everyday,
And the skies are turning very grey,
But maybe one day,
He might stand up and just may,
Tell me the truth and stop his sway,
That would make it okay,
And it would make for a better day...
