My Friends, Me & You! Poem by Sara Tober

My Friends, Me & You!

My friends, they say,
We’re not meant to be.
I say,
Shows what you know,
We love each other.
You say the same.
My friends, they say,
You’re much too young for me and to choose
I say,
What do you know and why would I do that?
You say,
Forget them, I don’t care,
But they’re your friends,
So don’t choose between us,
If so choose both.
Kitty and Macy, they say,
Follow your heart,
I say,
I will and you do the same.
You say,
Well I don’t know what you say,
For you have never told me.
My friends they say,
You’re being stupid and immature.
I say,
no you are, we are in love and age is just a number.
You say the same,
You love me for me.
My friends, they say nothing,
They just walk away in disgust.
I say nothing.
Instead I call you crying.
You say,
Calming words,
Like forget them,
They’re not worth your tears.
You’ll come stay with me.
I’ll cry ‘cause I’ll miss my friends.
You say, we’ll come visit them
I say it’s not the same.
But you say,
Yeah, but at least you’ll be safe.
I say, Well that’s true.
Then you say,
If your friends are like that,
How are they friends to you?
I say I don’t know.
You say exactly.
I say,
But what about Macy?
You say,
You’ll see her again.
I say,
I know, but still…
You say,
I promise you’ll see her again.
I say otay.
You say I love you,
And I melt.
I say I love you back,
And you say,
I know you do.
