My Leap Poem by Steven Elsner

My Leap

Standing on the edge
Closer to the ledge
Tears fall to the earth
I've been crying since birth

Teetering on the brim
Everything appearing so grim
Ending my mortal being
This euphoria is fleeing

I back down living once more
Pick my heart up from the floor
I slather on a fake smile
Turn to face my longest mile
