My Life (The Lie) Poem by Harshvardhan Ramachandran

My Life (The Lie)

She’s not the kind of girl who would lie
Someone you might trust your life with
Who will whisper words of love
Promising what people look for eternally
A trust of understanding and togetherness
Where nothing will break you down

Trusting her blindly I walked
Not seeing the light behind me
Walking into a void of the unknown
Here my trust is sown
And she will reap my heart
And take all it’s worth

While you are far away thinking of her
Of the times that bring warmth
And its times like these
That makes the days seem shorter
Till you are by her side again
You go down to the abyss she threw you in
When would you finally learn
That the Heart is the easiest to break
And causes you to be a wreck
I need a lift because I’m crashing down
I need a lift because I’m crashing down
I need a way to fly high
Away from the Lie
To move away from what I have known
Of a love that was like a loan
Something which came and went
One day bought, one day lent

While I lie lay dizzy with confusion
She will go out without disconcert
The heart was played like an orchestra
And at the climax it was cut to die
I need a lift because I’m crashing down
I need a lift because I’m crashing down
I need a way to fly high
Away from the Lie

So what comes of all of this?
Believing that one day it will be fine
And things will fall in line
The old promise would bear fruit
Not knowing all the words were moot
I should have walked away
Knowing what was to come
It’s been a long time and nothing matters now
Know that The Truth is a bitter pill to swallow
So learn to accept it before it eats at you
Until the deception initiated ends
And you see yourself in a mirror
Wondering how the time has passed
Where your heart once was is now a shadow
The promises of a life lay in ruin
Know that this was all your doing.

You can live in a delusion
And try and contain people in them
But soon, they will see past your lie
And know what the truth is
I have come to accept the world
And now I stand to explore it
With my clear of the blindness
Clear of the veil of Blind belief
Now I am a man of reason and balance
I needed a lift because I was crashing
I needed a lift because I was crashing
To survive the fall of pain
Away from the Lie
And now, I see the light
I had passed it by long ago
Not again, nevermore.
Life is mine evermore.
