Sonnet from a Loving Father
Did I take you from your mother's side?
Each day I dwell where memories remain.
Though love for her in vain, I cannot hide,
My heart beats steady through both joy and pain.
I cannot judge the love you hold so deep,
Nor ask you to forgive what cannot change.
Yet in my soul your happiness I keep,
Through every storm, through life both wide and strange.
Though wealth I lack, my love will always stay,
A constant shield, a light against the dark.
In body, soul, and heart I give each day,
To guide you safely through life's shifting arc.
For you, my child, I fight with all I own,
In flesh and bone, my love has only grown.
