My Most Worthy Friend Poem by Sara Jo Andrews

My Most Worthy Friend

I see you standing there,
Ever watching, waiting,
For what I know not.
I see sorrow and loneliness in your pale eyes.
Everytime I see it there in your eyes,
I long to erase that pain and sorrow.
But those rare times that lovely smile
Upon your lips reach your deep eyes,
My heart stops.
It’s such a contagious smile.
One can’t help but to smile in return.
My strong dark friend, you
Know not the gift of your friendship means
To me.
I hear you say you are unworthy, undeserving
My heart aches to hear you say so.
If only you knew how worthy and deserving you are.
I know only the tip of what you have endured
And from that alone I know you are strong willed and a good hearted man.
How can that be unworthy in any words?
I know that you are a true friend in every sense of the word.
To me so much more.
