My Mother Poem by Dr Shamim ali

My Mother

MY MOTHER
I am still watching you sleep peacefully
And wishing that it would last
The peace, the tranquility, the serenity on your angelic face
I'd never made it out in the past
I felt you around a while ago
And hoped that it would go on forever…
I heard you say something, your words had no end
I felt your spirit revolving around me
I was thinking of you the whole day
And wishing that my tears would dry
All of this as I knew I had done nothing for you!
And I couldn't figure out why,
I saw you smiling that day!
And stared at you in total awe
Was it something about me that made you smile?
Was that fear that I felt on that day?
But I was thinking of you today
And I realized that I can't wait
To tell you how much I value
And worship you in every way
For me, you waited
For me, you’ve sacrificed
For me, you devoted your time and care
No one is here to wipe off my tears
No one is here to soothe my pain
No one is here to hide my silliness
No one is here to value me!
I offer you, just three words today,
'Thank you Mom! '
