My Nightmare Poem by Hermione Femalton

My Nightmare

The smell of smoke is everywhere;
The sky alight with flame,
My heart is cold, my mind is numb
Repeat a single name.

The nightmare's now reality;
The light cannot be found,
All around me, people screaming
But I can 't hear a sound.

The pain in-side is choking me;
I find it hard to see.
At the sky I howl your name;
Why you instead of me?

My mem'ry's a confusion
Of explosion, screams and bombs.
I can't accept you're gone;
With me's where you belong.

I lost your hand in the blow;
It wasn't long before:
Your body crushed with stone;
Your eyes no longer saw.
