My Own Poem by Joshua Gilchrist

My Own

When I think of you
There’s always a smile on my face
If I could choose to see you
I would choose almost everyday
Because you make me feel so good inside
The joy you put in my heart
Makes me wish you were mine
I wish I could call you my own
And hold you close to me
I would never let you go
But you can still be free
You can live you your life
Just as long as it’s with me
I wanna share my happiness with you
And just to let you know
How much I want to call you my own
So we talk and text
And distance is our mess
But I still see our future ahead
Walking and talking about everything
Growing closer together
Just you and me
Time is an illusion
That takes away our focus
But there is something
I need you to know
Something I’ve got to say
I wish I could call you my own
And hold you close to me
I would never let you go
But you can still be free
You can live you your life
Just as long as it’s with me
I want to share my happiness with you
And just to let you know
How much I want to call you my own
I just want to call you my own
