My Path's Obstruction Poem by Izzy Angelone

My Path's Obstruction

Rating: 5.0

There once was a girl who wallowed in self- pity
She loved so deep that it turned her giddy
Laughter and joy filled the air
But her love had stolen her strength and left her bare
The people in her heart always found a way to deceive
She sat and wondered when the depression would finally leave
Substances gave her comfort in her time of need
She had been drained and wanted to be freed
Recovery was the only option she faced
Sobriety put her mind in a better place
She forgave her past lover
She found a grown man that she could rediscover
Life was on a path that could not be derailed
But then she took a pregnancy test and exhaled
Her mind flooded with positive thoughts
Her stomach felt as if it was tangled in knots
She hoped for her baby to be in good health
But she worried about her lack of wealth
Her boyfriend told her that everything would be okay
Still the stress bothered her everyday
