My Pillow The Rock That Broke Me Poem by Jennifer Colyne Hall

My Pillow The Rock That Broke Me

I'll be there soon love
I always wait
I lay my head down
As I pray the Lord my soul
if I never wake
As I drift to the sound
of lightening cracking
I pull the covers up
It won't be long love
I face the wall
my only friend
It understands -
the stand alone
I close my sleepy eyes
with visions of low cal treats
dancing in my head
The sound of fat rain drops
taking a hard fall
It is so familiar
my hopeful heart falls gently
Each night as my head hits the pillow
that became the rock that broke me
