My Protection, My Castle Poem by Rose Marie Cook

My Protection, My Castle

Blue and wide
Where sarcasm lies
Silent, but deadly
Filled with the tears I cry

Lowered down
Ears listening
Closed up
To positive thinking

Holds up strong
No cracks or breaks
Stronger it gets
When I think of rape

Hideous hides
Under bars
Hot oil pours
Over all my faults

People higher up
Look down on me
Watching, waiting
To stop bad things from happening

Loyalty safe
From predators
Trust holds
All of it together

Music, laughter
Eat their way
To my heart
Where family stays

Held in close
Dogs and cats
Let them roam
Until a threat

Blare the music
Sing to the soul
Help me llive
'Til the night is gone

Shadows move
Never showing
Who they are
What they hide

Fear sinks in the ground
Weakness leaks all around
Imperfection shines through
In the dungeon lies myself
