My Shadow Poem by Stacey Stevens

Sitting here alone
Writing in dead silence
When suddenly my thoughts
Creep into my mind
The memories are hurtful and deep as can be I try to find happiness
But depression sweeps over me
Like a shadow
The lights flicker on and off
Then vanishes into thin air
I have no strength to trust
All I hear are broken promises and lies
All I can do is sit back
And watch my life pass me by
The future is soon to be the past
Then there’s no looking back
