My Solemn Promise Poem by Mary Oluwadunsin Oyeleke

My Solemn Promise

In my heart in times of distress
I solemnly made a promise
If He'll help me progress
I'll make Him a fortress

Little did I know I did
Just like a flip he did
I had all I need
Because He granted me my wish

When I got fattened
Every promise remained forgotten
I enjoyed all I've gotten
And forgot I said something

Then the whip came beating
I kept wondering
What has kept hindering
Just then it came ringing
Oh! My Solemn Promise.
