My Son - Poem by Elaine Harris

Yesterday I had a son
Today a memory
Three shots and it was done
Tore apart our family
Love in our hearts
Lost to our arms
How could I keep him
Safe from harm
Yet free to live and love
And taste life's greatness

Love, mom
