My Son Poem by Cornelius Douglas

My Son

Rating: 5.0

I wonder as I look at you
do you know what must be done?
Then as you grow how proud I am, my friend, young man, my son.

Reflections of a time I held you close upon my heart
bring sadness as I face the days the two of us must part.

The quiet walks and talks of things between just you and me, the tears that I could turn to joy, my fondest memories.

And if by some chance that you are wrong know that I will stand with you.
On days that could be less than good with God we'll see it through.
For in your eyes I see myself,
as you and I are one.
I live, I breathe, I'd die for you, I love you so, my son
