My Story Poem by Sakina haji

My Story

GOD, I LOVE LIFE. Every morning I wake up, open my eyes and say, ALL RIGHT! ! Another day and I'm still here!
My name is Sakina Haji, and I am a firm believer in the fact that everyone has a story. So this is my story. Mine is not exactly your standard story though. I'll start with the beginning, back where I was born.
I was born in Kuwait, studying in girls school where,
life was going along pretty good. I had my friends at school, birthday parties and after school activities. I have two sisters and a younger brother. There was nothing very different about me or my family, and life seemed great with days filling in smoothly. Life was full of fun....nothing was complicated....but it all changed on 20th May 2005 when after my 10th I came to Galiyakot, my little and remote village in India.
It was very difficult to live in a village but there was a hope deep inside of making life better some how...my school life in Galiyakot was not that good enough....faced lot of problems.....my thinking with the classmates never matched.....i remember how lonely i felt those days.... i was standing all alone...i had no shoulder to cry on.....but i learned so many things that i could have never learned in Kuwait....
I made some amazing true best friends..... they made my life so easy....and i am still in touch with them
my best past time was watching English movies, reading books, magazines n always thinking how get in touch with the outer world........
I remember I used to write letters to writers, Ngo’s, politicians........I filled a form of teenager magazine n wrote a letter to the editor father Jobi...... just because I always wanted to stay connected with the outer world...
After my 12th....I did not wanted to sit home.... I joined school as a teacher......and decided to do my graduation......I remember I was in class with kids and I got this call from the editor....I went mad when he told me to come Jaipur for the pagent even though i was 19 n I was not eligible for it....he told me he was touched when he read ma letter....I was glad....my letters were not a waste...
As a teacher I learned so many things which I can never describe in words......it made me more confident....more independent.....I can never regret coming to India.....it has taught me that
It doesn't! Matter what you do just so long as you do something. And, most importantly, NEVER GIVE UP HOPE!
Small incidents make u learn and sometimes they change your life
One day I was just sitting outside hospital eating sandwich waiting 4 my mom.....a poor little boy kept staring
...I tried to ignore him...but he kept staring at the sandwich....at last I asked him
'Do you need any help? '

I expected nothing but an outstretched grimy hand. He spoke the three words that shook me.
'Don't we all? ' he said.
This three words still strike me and I have learned that No matter how much you have, no matter how much you have accomplished, you need help too. No matter how little you have, no matter how loaded you are with problems, even without money or a place to sleep, you can give help.

Life and compassion shall be bound within reality of life to keep human being in the circle of humanity. Hope will drive someone to the point of success but obsession will drag human to disaster. Don't doubt, pure and real hope will shine and polish your capability to contribute to society by any means. Well done.
