My Trip To Heaven Or Your Trip To Earth - Poem by Seairra Kyger

What would you say?
If you were standing here now
I showed you I wiped up my tears
And learned how to smile

What would you do?
If I showed you my heart was broken
And I took it out on myself
But I was still standing

What would you feel?
If I broke down in tears
And I told you how I've missed you
But I know your looking out for me

Would you be proud?
If you knew I didn't blame you at all
And I slept there all night crying
But I found the strength to walk away

I will see you again one day
I promise you
I will not leave by my own means
I promise you
You'll never know
You stole days from me
You never gave me the time
To tell you I also loved you to
And the paramedics stole my heart that day
When they took your body away
You’re still my best friend
I still love you
I hope it beats for you
Up in heaven

What would you say?
If I told you that I forgave you
But I was sorry that I couldn't help you
And I'm learning to smile again
Would you say
I love you, your still my best friend

Poet's Notes about The Poem

When I was very young I fell in love with an amazing boy named Nic. He was dying of cancer. But he had the most beautiful soul. We became best friends and I kept my feelings to myself. Well when he got worse he told me he loved me out of the blue one day but he hung up before I could repley. I didn't hear from him again. A week later his family called me and told me he died and that he funural was that weekend past and they didnt want me to be there so they waited till after to tell me. He killed himself the night he told me he loved me...and I never got the chance to tell him I loved him back.
