'My Upholder' Poem by HAKEEM BAKARE

'My Upholder'

GONE ARE THE DAYS! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! !
Gone are the days
When hardship travails
When the going gets tough
When three square meal is impossible
When I cried for help
When I see no one to come to my aid
When feeding the family prove abortive
When I looked back, front, right and left
When I strived so hard
When I always wish to achieve
When I dreamt and it never came to past
When I look forward to getting it right but all to no avail
When I smile but seem not real
When there was no friend to talk to
When there was no a motherlike picture to gaze at
When a fatherlike image was impossible
When I was in search of stipend to get to the zenith
When all plans remain stagnant
When sterility was the lyrics
When a girl friend would play the lyrics that pour out a vibe of deceit
When a fiancée would utter word of affection conditionally
When she called you ‘love', because you have spent
When she is not be real but fake
When she love you conditionally

There comes a time
The time is always a daily routine
The time is an unforgettable moment
The time lives on in future memories
The time can never be wiped off memory
The time is structured for a mirror in one's life
The time is meant to remember the figure
Who inspite of all adversities
Will never forsake you
Will never forget you
Will never let you down
Will always reach out to you
Will always ponder over your well being

The figure that is worth remembering
The figure, the source of existence
The figure, the reason for living
The figure, the UNIMAGINABLE personality

IGI LEYIN OGBA OMO
The figure stood, when friends disappoint
The figure stood, when friends makes statement, 'IT IS OVER'
The figure stood, when your fiancée places you on her shoulder
The figure stood, when it is over and place you in the heart
The figure ensures, within the fortress, you remain unharmed

No one can be replaced by the figure
The figure that words alone cannot give a deep explanation of
Irreplaceable is what I call the figure

In the fortress of Labour, the figure was strong
The figure cries tears, when you are hot
When headache beholds you.

ALABARO MI {MY CONFIDANT)
ONIDURO MI{ MY UPHOLDER}

Forever will I keep the figure's remembrance in the bossom of my heart
Whether in existence
Or in the time of departure.
