My Walk Poem by Stephen Carey

My Walk

For an eternity,
I sat and I waited.
It was such a long time,
Nothing very exciting,
But I knew when it was over
Was when I would see you.

I walked down the path
I knew would lead to you,
But the light was off.
You were gone.
Everyone was gone,
So I sat in the dark.

After one more forever,
Spent in thoughts of you,
I retraced my steps
Back down the old path,
Moving as fast as I could,
So I could not feel anything.

But I met you halfway.
You walked right past me,
Because I am nothing
In your walk through life,
Though you are everything
In mine.
