My Way Poem by Rebbecca Webb

Some say my poetry isn't poetry
Because all they do is rhyme
You think that they are childish
I don't care because they are mine
I don't write how I write
Just to please you
I write how I write
Because this is my point of view
I like rhyming my poetry
It gets me out of my head
But I'm not changing how I write
Why should I, just because you said?
I'm going to have to pass on that
And here's the reason why
My whole life I've been told what to do
And I've done nothing but watch the world go by
This is the one place I go that I can truly call my own
I'm sorry you don't like it here
But you're free to return home
They say if I want to succeed at writing
I should listen and not be misled
I'm not doing this to succeed
I write rhyming poetry because if I didn't
Well, id probably be dead
I don't want you to be confused
I don't want you to be mislead
I love all kinds of poetry
I just want that on record being said
To all the poets out there
You don't have to listen to everything they say
Poetry is about creativity
And doing things your way.
I may not become a successful poet
But to me that's quite ok
Because I don't write for that reason
I write just to get me through the day
