My Wife Poem by Bill Douglas

My Wife

I can remember when I first saw her,
There she sat, quiet and in her world,
But what she didn't know,
I was about to come crashing into it!!

It's been over twenty five years now,
And she's stood with me thick and thin!!!

Tours in Iceland, Turkey, Temporary Duty Tours,
All in the Air Force,
Fourteen years in all!

Weekends alone when I served in the Army National Guard,
And the two weeks on Active Duty, sometimes more,
Over eight years worth, and then I retired, have served the
country that I love so much!!

She watches me put on the badge and gun and enforce the law!!
She remembers her father gave his life doing the same!!
Keeping the peace for the people, what God has called me to do!!
Thick and Thin she's always been there for me!!
She's quiet and strong and I'm in her world!!
WHAT A WIFE!!
