My Wish For Winds To Fly Poem by Leila L. Dechochran

Oh to touch the winds of flight high up, and
soar where eagles fly
To leave the woes of trouble souls on earth
behind me far below.
I'd listen to the songs of birds and sail in
endless clouds high
And chase the sun through cloudy paths.
And play in the bright sparkling light of the stars
Giving light to the darkness.
And claim the boundless heavens for my home. The breeze keeping me high above the tallest trees
To rise above my mortal bonds
and never have to give my life to die
knowing I had found the way to trail
where angels know love and life so pure
And when my wind give away to be no more
I'd take the hand of God to hold forever.
