My Wish Upon Leaving Poem by Vlad Mutuleanu

My Wish Upon Leaving

It is my wish in life
To live at least till sixty,
To watch the children grow
To see them build their families
And then, when all is done,
To fade away, peacefully.
But I cannot begin to understand
The way that life decides
Who roams the earth alive
Or simply disappears, into oblivion.
So if I die tomorrow
Or ten or fifty years
My wish is just the same
The wish I´m about to give.
To all the people that will weep
And mourn and miss me dearly
Please remember that I´m just a human
Among many,
So do not cry for me
I don`t deserve it
Cry for something greater,
We all are one
The ones that live upon this earth
So why should I be any special?
And if you cry
You cry for all the dying men
You cry for mother nature
You cry in front of greatness
Because I alone, do not deserve your sadness.
Still, if you want to show respect
Put on a smile and laugh and dance¨
While you remember
The good man I tried to be
In each and every second.
