they shine so bright,
seem so close,
but they truly are,
too far to reach.
I remember when,
I'd stretch out my hand,
with hopes that one day,
I'll finally catch one.
They twinkle as,
they shoot across,
the sky's so bright,
yet so dark.
I'd lay on the ground,
looking up at them,
in aw of the light,
and beauty it holds.
I love to watch,
stars go by,
racing across,
this dark night sky.
