Mystery Of Waking Sleeping Poem by Joseph M Donatelli

Mystery Of Waking Sleeping

Rating: 5.0

IS Confusion the Start of things to come
Half waking to the numbing dumbing
Rude sounds all around I was sleeping
Usually I'm waking dreaming dozing
Not conscious nor comatose just reclining
Waiting thinking for the sun's next rising
Mentally im to busy for mind wasting
In the quiet of night I'm concentrating

It comes to me in waking dreaming
Is there a difference in these feelings
Have I always slept imagined waking
Or always awake imagined sleeping
Time for thinking morning to evening
All darkness long I'm image seeking
Never knowing if I'm really dreaming
Or wide awake imagining seeing

In this attitude of learning growing
Abhorred by anything I'm not knowing
I fixate on a void in knowledge filling
Where everything reasoning needs distilling
The question remains am I waking sleeping
Sleeping waking or distortion making
The reality of sleeping asking thinking
Is there no answer that's forthcoming
