N Hopes It Will Thaw What I Cannot Poem by Minnie Gehrig

N Hopes It Will Thaw What I Cannot

Beads and bracelets
across my wrists,
to keep from tracing the blue veins red...

n i etch across my heart in red ink..........
n lay myself on the page............

burning on the alter of love
my heart stands
blackened and charred.

n i sit before it with balled up fists
until the anger becomes
a cocoon...
n the heavy sadness emerges,
spreading its wings,

isint tragedy beautifull my romeo.
where underneth the blue n velvet sky
i first gave myself to you.....

and love grew bold and unafraid beneth
our kiss,
blossoming so real you could smell it.........

but now my love the cold winter has come...
n the flowers are frozen
petals breaking like glass beneth my touch

n me not knowing what to do
set this my heart on fire..
n hopes it will thaw
what i cannot......................
