Nancy's Song Poem by Joseph M Donatelli

Nancy's Song

Essentially I conceive indivuality
My verbal cargo my sailing mind
The ship that carries me flies
The right free flag of me and mine
one among the differing billion me's
Listening to my soul whisper quietly
Speaking only to me
of the unique rhythms of my cerebral song
This the one that I must sing and be

Yes I love you truly but
As we walk along your hand in mine
I feel ten different fingers entwine
I feel individuals close knit friends
each one a thread in a fine fabric bread
Of intricate genetic human flesh design
Seven billion patterns colors and rhythms
I swear on my sword my pens my lines
I'm loyal to you but of my turn of mind

Our eyes cast yours right mine left
We hold to our separate star flowers
Both settings on the same horizon in the same hour
That is the reason we know each other
My cells comune with my cells
Not yours we cannot blend organs never
It's loves independent choice that binds
We will walk alone together
Down our own roads forever me and you
Yours and mine
