Natalee Holloway (Lost One In Aruba) Poem by Justin Gildow

Natalee Holloway (Lost One In Aruba)

Lost one in Aruba
Whatever happened to you
It's one of the greatest unsolved mysteries of all time
And around the world
Many wonder what happened to you, girl

News travels fast
News can be taken as true or false
As some believe, and some disbelieve

Here in Aruba
It looks like paradise
But as I know
Appearances can be deceiving

Pleasure and pain
Power and passion
From a stand point, I can see those things
led to your demise or disappearance
As some would think
Or some would say

I walk down the streets
Being aware and street smart
Minding my own business

Soon after
I'm walking along the beach
Walking by where some say you were last seen
I feel a lot of things
But I can't say or explain what or how I feel
I just shake my head as I continue to walk along
Trying my best to hum one of my favorite songs

Lost one in Aruba
I wonder what you were like in real life
Would you have taken the chance to get
to know me
Or would you have left me to the wonders of
the wind
Good questions that will never have answers

As the sun starts to set
And the night ready to arrive
I stand on the shore alone
Alone with my own thoughts
Thinking about you
Natalee Holloway
Who knows what will happen in years to come
Who knows what will happen with time
Who knows about anything, really

In my hand is a worn and beaten up necklace
that I found
Feeling sadness for you
I throw it into the ocean

To this day
You still have your hometown of Alabama in
your grip
And your memory refuses to die in Aruba
Whether you're dead or alive
Your memory lives on with your family
Your memory lives on with your friends
Some I'm sure have moved on with their lives
Though they haven't forgotten you
Your memory remains with them
I'm sure now for always
And for the many people around the world
They have you on their minds
As well as in their hearts
They refuse to let your memory die
Even when they look out at the sea
Even when they look out at the sky
You truly will never be forgotten
Natalee Holloway
