Nature's Blood Poem by Andrew Jacobson

Nature's Blood

Rating: 5.0

Her clever eyes—humorous lips,
words undulating as waves
not of a vast ocean,
but an evening bath-
my heartbeat pouncing
like horny grasshoppers—
the red wine like the downturn
of a rollercoaster—
our ears ringing,
but mouths closed
and the sun
a wine glass
shattering shards of colored light
through our windows
into the strawberries
on our tongues, those
refracting seeds
our tastebuds
which, in the end,

become stained
with nature's blood.
