Neel Puja,
The origin of it,
How did welcome to worship
Shiva-Parvati
In the last of Chaitra
With Shiva Gajan,
The garjan (roar) of the bhakts
In which
The Austroasiatic and the Aryan
Trends and traditions
Meet it in fusion?

The bounty and blessing sought for
Ends with
The worship of Shiva-Sati,
The Lingam-Yoni motif
Ritualizing on Neel Shasti
And the pious worship of Shiva
Paid with visits to the pagoda.

How holy is this Neel Puja,
Women keeping a fast
And seeking blessings for their children,
Making us remember of Shiva going neel, blue,
Nilkantha, blue-throated
After taking poison
With a mythological perspective
Heralding Poila Baisakh?
