Neptune - Poem by Dilantha Gunawardana

Gazing at planetary nomads from his heavenly seat over yonder
Basking in the vast open is a naked planetary wonder
With a skin tone that merges with the tone of the frothy blue ocean
A medley of blue and white like a cloud dissected azure curtain
Enchanting to the eyes in his fluidly blue mosaic stitch
Tumbling round and round in his grandiose itch
Roman his rich heritage yet bohemian is his innate style
As he navigates the milky way with a condescending smile
On a regal chariot drawn by the dorsal venom of a hippocampus
As destiny beckons on the corridors of his ocean campus
Seduced by the sultry curves of Salacia encrusted in seaweed
As a messenger dolphin delivered his love engraved in deed
Now they sit on a throne far away in the Milky Way
In a citadel submerged in the endless blue of the ocean's play
Cavorting with his fellow gypsies in a galaxy bathed in celestial milk
Stitched by the hands of fate to frolic with his native ilk
As stargazes from nomad planets gape through the shaft of a telescope
Neptune cuddles his beloved in their blue mosaic kaleidoscope
