Never Be Gone, My Love Poem by Montserrat Martinez

Never Be Gone, My Love

He came from a faraway country,
Renouncing a contentment existence
On dear motherland
For the land of fog and brew.
He encountered a puzzling language
Of compelling sound,
He made home in an uncharted shore
Albeit adrift in a foreign home.
His endeavour rewarded him with comrades
And in an inconsequential day,
Life accolade him also with love.
She was an itinerant person
With glossy brunette locks.
Them strangers, traded a few words
And the seed of love was born.
An amalgam of two lost souls
Bountiful lives lived
Yet none of them felt consummated
Until this one life,
Both redeemed in a cherished union
Of forever lasting love.
Now he rest on an eternal sleep,
Up there where the clouds are velvety and soft,
While down here she cradles their child
Born as a sign of their everlasting love.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
I wrote this poem to my best friend. She lost her husband to cancer in February 2021. He was from Albania and she is Spanish. They met in London. With this poem I have tried writing about their love history, I hope I made justice to their live in common.
