Never Ending Poem by Brandon Owens

Never Ending

Can you see them over there?
The whole world is talking
Arguing and making noise
Destroying the young boys
And mommy wails aloud
For the little girl unprotected
And then none of it matters
Daddy goes to war with himself
Takes it out on everyone else
The little boy gets punched
He's the weakness we abhor
The men bring out their guns
Shooting down the airplanes
Little boy get in your tank
Show them all your strength
And momma says goodbye
Why did her boy have to die
Papa cries for the first time
It's time to drink away the pain
The girls will never be the same
The men touch their women
Just the way Daddy use to touch them
The women touch themselves
Disgraced they spit on the grave
Somewhere they're buried beneath
Pain is the only thing that feels right
Just like brother mistreats his wife
The one he leaves behind
Every time he goes off to die
Do you see them over there?
Complaining, whining
Does it matter what they're saying
When they all hide their faces?
Putting up their fist to protect
Something they don't believe in
To stamp out the not so innocent
When we know we're no different
Mother smiles and holds his hand
Father grabs the bottle to hide his shame
Their kids were doomed to begin with
Perpetuating the Never Ending
