Never Enough Poem by robert seminara

Never Enough

i could do all of those things you like, tell you i love you when I make you come.
i could do more. Its not going to be enough to hold you.
i could touch your body in the way you love the most.
its not enough.
what will ever be enough will never reach my grasp. I'm just not enough.
I feel this thing you feel,
I want to believe I do.
The outside air has a new crisp edge to it.
The stars are noticeable.
Flowers keep jumping out at me yelling at me,
telling me to send them to you.
So this must be love.
But it's not enough to keep you.
I'm a fool by any account,
but not foolish enough to believe the unbelievable.
Were this some comedy in which the man fumbling around trips himself into love,
the long kind, the real kind; that would be more a reality than the plans I so dastardly plan, and the dreams I almost allow myself to dream.
It's cruel I know.
To make suckers of us both.
But I'm not enough; there's nothing better I'm able to do.
If you don't believe me, give it time.
You'll see me screw it up, or I'll relapse, maybe get arrested on our wedding day.Something's gonna give. And I'll say, I'm sorry I couldn't be more.
