Never Let Me Poem by Barima Basoah

Never Let Me

I don't want my eyes to see,
what I don't want to see.
A monster for beauty.

I don't want my ears to hear,
what I don't want to hear.
A war drum for drum beat.

I don't want my nose to smell,
what I don't want to scent.
A carcass odour for fragrance.

I don't want my mind to capture,
what I don't want to think of.
A destruction for building.

I don't want my heart to feel,
what I don't want to feel.
A hatred for love.

I don't want my mouth to say,
what I don't want to say.
A death for life.

Play with my mind like a dolly,
play with my emotions like novels,
but never let me be......
