Never Meant To Be (Beaten Down) Poem by Samantha Young

Never Meant To Be (Beaten Down)

I try to make you happy
I try to be tough
But to you, it's never enough
I give you everything, my heart, my all
But you never even try to catch me when I fall

Your words beat me down
Beat me to the ground
Fallen
With heavy eyes I look up to see
To see you looking down on me
And I think to myself
It was never,
Never meant to be.

It hurts me to see you this way
I'm growing tired of the despair and dismay
Your words continue to beat me down
I keep trying to turn around
I just need to turn around and walk away
I need to fight these feelings day by day

Being without you, living without you here
It's like half of me just seems to disappear
But right as I feel I'm getting over you at last
Something triggers the memories of the past
The Past flooding in,
Then my feelings float to the top once again

Your actions lure me into temptations sweet caress
And I realize, without you I'm a mess
Only you can replace the missing pieces of my heart
The pieces you took when you tore me apart
You can ease my pain and silence my cries
And I can just forgive and forget all of the lies
There is no reason to hide
I want you by my side

Your words beat me down
Beat me to the ground
Fallen, with heavy eyes I look up to see
Your hand stretched out to me
And I think to myself
Maybe it was meant to be
