Nevermore - Poem by Kandace Schofield

I never was a kola kid
walkin through the halls of low school
one word, freak
is all i ever heard
its all i ever heard

i wanted to be like you
i wanted to fit in
i'm nothing like you
you sodomized my outer shell,
raping me within
raping me

thank u for the teasing and taunting
life was good to u then
yet somehow neglected me
u punch in punch out
i'm livin the high life
an apex predator, look out

Everyone knew my name
but no one knew me
they only saw the outside
too scared to look within

Now the doors are busted open
and the walls aren't caving in
i see beyond the shadows
and I quote the raven 'nevermore', 'nevermore'
