New Chapter Poem by Richard Phiri

New Chapter

I wasn't quiet conversant with the literature so I had to break the rule and find an,
Unorthodox way of writing poetry because my heart desired to be expressed
So these are, Heart-felt  feelings encrypted in words and that explains why I speak with so much intent,
To the extent of shading a few tears when am reciting these poems because at times I feel as though the wound is still fresh,
Because in my pain I discovered a pen,
And how I could use its ink to write myself a new chapter,
And this to me acted like a plaster on a bone fractured,
And in my agonizing state God wiped my tears away and gave me this gift to calm my heavy heart with but now its more than just a hash bye to a weeping baby
Or a lullaby sung to appease me when my soul is drenched in solitude because now I speak for multitudes,
Of people caught up in the same state as I was or maybe even worse,
Giving hope to those whose faith is like a deeming light that Christ is,
The only doctor you will ever need, to nurse your woes and mend your brokenness,
Nest your heart on the branch of life the cross,
With nails piercing His flesh so that you and I might have a new start,
A new life because our salvation story was written with blood as ink
Think about the agony He went through just for you,
He endured the father's wrath meant for me and you
And not just we but the entire galaxy,
He had the entire world in mind and death was the ransom required to bail us out from the shackles of slavery
Yes we were slaves to sin Our mortal bodies condemned to eternal misery until Christ intervened
Just who would have imagined
And I imagine even De Vanchi failing to paint this picture
Just what kind of a king would choose to be born in a manger?
Entitled to a throne yet magnanimously chose to rule over the earth's terrain
Now tell me, who can make a better sub for Him therein
For He is the master who played the position of a servant just to save us with new life on a platter
Because honestly speaking we did nothing that really matters, to deserve that
And if He was to reverse that and put you in that place
Would you play the same card? And the answer is no,
So it's high time you know whose boss and stop living your life like you are entitled to breath when it's just a mire gift to every living creature on this earth
So for every air you take in and out should be for the glory of His name,
For we are to present our bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to He for that's what Romans 12: 1 proclaims
So come He says unto you come,
Come all of you that have strayed come,
Come unashamed just the way you are for He washes away every stein,
So pick up that pen and write to yourself a new story,
For a new chapter has now began.
