New Year, New You Poem by SARAH A. STRUSZCZYK

New Year, New You

Just like the smell of the rain
Most can tell when it’s about to pour
And some can sense the pain
Another has had to endure
I can sense your loneliness
Without looking into your eyes
The voice is never needed
To reveal your disguise
You hide behind a façade
Pretending it will all go away
Giving everything a reason
For the way things run each day
Never satisfied with life
Never satisfied with you
Making excuses for where you are now
Never knowing what to do
Breaking on the inside
Never allowing it be seen
Needing to be the strong one
Laying low behind the scene
Mark my very words
No more emptiness will you bear
For soon comes a new year
And this time you won’t just be anywhere
