Nick-Knack Bushwhack Poem by Robert Sheridan

Nick-Knack Bushwhack

New way of thinking
They play one-on-one
They play nick-knack
With one eye blinded
Can’t see right from
what’s wrong
With a nick-knack
bushwhack toss the
occasional bone
They come to steel
your heart – for God’s
sake leave me alone...
New way of thinking
They play two-on-two
They play nick-knack
On your exposed soul
With a nick-knack
bushwhack toss you
into an early grave
roll over and over
can I be saved...
New way of thinking
They play three-on-three
They play nick-knack
To your feelings they
knee
With a nick-knack
bushwhack leave you
empty – guess I
deserved it, I suppose...
New way of thinking
They play four-on-four
They play nick-knack
School of hard knocks
kick in your door
With a nick-knack
bushwhack live in a
house not a home...
New way of thinking
They play five-on-five
They play nick-knack
Toss you a hornet’s
nest
With a nick-knack
bushwhack – it’s out of
the frying pan into the fire...
New way of thinking
They play six-on-six
They play nick-knack
With stones and sticks
With a nick-knack
bushwhack no where left
to turn – pick-up a gun
and play Russian roulette. . .
