Night Poem by William B. Deutscher

Night

In the shuffling shamble of the rolling
Drop the trumpets scuffle around the corner
Stop the cymbals coolly clash and battling
Cats in shadow scratch the alley midnight thick
Bass guitar in the loitering dark
Sidewalk littered with cracked pianos
Tinkering keystrokes to the wild
Saxophone and lucky strike
Stealing away like a thief on the run.
