Night Drives Poem by Sydney Petrel

Night Drives

i love the stars
and the pines
so many passing cars
bright red, their brake lights shine

orange rays beaming from light poles
the rumbling of passing pickups
a road scattered with potholes
the sound of my own hiccups

the moon sitting up, waiting
pretty, with all her scars
plotting and creating
a story to tell mars

the lights from nearing cities
cutting through the tree line
dreamy music in my ear, to sleep i almost fall
the reflection of my phone on the window
making my eyes shine
and her gaze casting over it all
