Night Flight Poem by Alison L. James

Night Flight

When night breezes blow across the plain
Sending faded drum beats and faint smoke clouds
To the poised nostrils of the wolf
Who silently paws through grasses with the pack,
When owls begin their vigil from overhead
And earthbound creatures move with stealth
Against moonlit skies,
My eagle spirit soars on its nocturnal flight,
Buoyed by warm currents
On wings extended in fullness,
Ever upward to be a part
Of the wonder that lives
Forever in my mind,
Strong, alone, daring to be
All that I am.
